San Diego is a beautiful city, known for its gorgeous beaches, sunsets, and surf. However, San Diego isn't just for humans. With its beautiful coastline, San Diego is an ideal destination for dogs too. Here are the top 5 dog-friendly beaches in San Diego and instructions on how to get there.

1. Coronado Dog Beach: This beautiful beach is located in Coronado and is leash-free. There is plenty of space for dogs to run around, play in the water, and even surf. The coolest part about this beach is there is a doggy shower available at the entrance/exit so you can wash off. To get there, take the Coronado Bridge exit and head towards the Tidelands Park. The beach is located just behind the park.

2. Del Mar Dog Beach: This is another fantastic beach for dogs, located in the Del Mar area. Dogs can run off-leash on this beautiful stretch of beach, and there are even doggie bags and waste containers available. To get there, take the Via de la Valle exit off Interstate 5, head west, and turn left at the Coast Boulevard.

3. Ocean Beach Dog Beach: This popular beach is located in the Ocean Beach area and is a great spot for dogs to run around off-leash. There are also plenty of dog-friendly restaurants and unique shops in the area. To get there, take the Sunset Cliffs Boulevard exit off Interstate 8, head west, and turn left on Voltaire Street.

4. La Jolla Cove: Although dogs must be leashed at this beach, it is still a beautiful spot to take your furry friend. There are plenty of walking trails and great photo opportunities. You will also get to experience loads of sea lions sun bathing in the rocks off the cliff, remember to be respectful and give them their space as this is an ecological reserve. To get there, take the La Jolla Village Drive exit off Interstate 5, head west, and follow the signs to La Jolla Cove.

5. Fiesta Island: This is another great off-leash beach, located in the Mission Bay area. Dogs can run around in the water and sand, and there are even some grassy areas for them to play. Fiesta Island is also a great place to paddle board with your dog! Just watch out for jet skis, specially during weekends. To get there, take the Sea World Drive exit off Interstate 5, head west, and turn right on Fiesta Island Road.
